I have a deep respect for comedians. It is harder than it looks to make people laugh – especially in an age where it is so easy to offend. And that’s not a bad thing – An age where it is easy to offend. It means the world is getting smaller and people are learning to live closer together and to be more considerate.

Russell Peters does the best Chinese accent I’ve heard to date. But I wonder if I would find him as funny if he were non-Asian? I definitely make allowances because he is. Sometimes the comedy is more about the comedian than what is being said.

In a shrinking world the potential for comedy ripens more quickly as diverse peoples with differing sensibilities interact more. It is as important to find humor in the differences of opinion as it is to debate it.

Every Tuesday for just a little over a month I have been posting YouTube videos of some of my favorite comedy sketches and stand up routines. I did this for no other reason than to cheer myself up and share some of my remedies for personal doldrums. Misery loves company so I just assumed there were others suffering the year-end doldrums too.

I think I’ve got it all out of my system now.
