Return to Otakon

My last Otakon was 10 years ago in Baltimore. It was their 20th Anniversary.

I like cosplay. I haven’t had the desire to “dress up” yet but I like the vibe of cosplayers, people who are so enthusiastic about a particular show or story or the craft of cosplaying itself – the creation of the costume, the interpretation of their favorite character, the resourcefulness of material and presentation.

It’s the submergence in make-believe that I like, the respite from the workaday through a brief indulgence of imagination and ingenuity.

I didn’t take as many photos as I hoped and didn’t attend any panels at this year’s Otakon. I’m hoping to be better engaged next year. However, this year I did speak with a lot of great vendors and artists, had fun at the maid café, and saw Yaiba and a part of Kouki’s performances.
